Mr. Johnson is a founding partner of Benevolent Capital Partners, LLC (“BCP”) and serves as a primary contact with our entrepreneurs and management teams. Prior to founding BCP, Brett M. Johnson was the president of Targus Inc. and Targus Group International from 2001 to October 2004. Targus is the leading global provider of mobile computing solutions with sales of $383 million at the end of its 2004 financial year. Through offices in 30 geographies and sales in more than 150 countries, the Company designs and markets a broad range of notebook carrying cases and accessories for mobile computing consumers.
Prior to his promotion to president of Targus, Mr. Johnson served as managing director of Targus EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia-Pacific from 1997 to 2001. During this role, he resided in London, England. As managing director, Mr. Johnson developed the Targus brand of portable computer accessories in the retail, mail order, distribution, OEM and online categories within the EMEA region—making Targus the only mobile accessory company to penetrate these territories. Under Mr. Johnson’s management, Targus EMEA/Asia-Pacific grew from 30 employees in eight offices, to 203 employees in 24 offices. Targus EMEA was awarded Best Vendor at Gartner Group’s VarVision Europe and RetailVision Europe trade shows. In 2000 and 2001, the organization received the Queen of England’s “Award for Enterprise,” one of the most prestigious business honors awarded by the queen.
Mr. Johnson began his career with Targus in 1995 as the sales director of the Western United States, which grew at a rate of more than 50 percent over a two-year period under his direction. Prior to joining Targus, Mr. Johnson served as an associate at Montgomery Securities in San Francisco and as a senior analyst of mergers and acquisitions for InterMedia Partners.
Mr. Johnson continues to serve on Targus Group International’s board of directors and as a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
Mr. Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and is a graduate of the Presidential/Key Executive Masters of Business Administration (EMBA) from Pepperdine University. |
